POSITION OVERVIEW

Magnitude Instruments is seeking a highly driven Outside Technical Sales Representative to lead new business growth and expand our customer base across academic and industrial research markets.

This role is ideal for a technically minded sales professional who thrives in a consultative selling environment and enjoys building relationships with scientists, engineers, and decision‑makers.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary revenue driver for new accounts, identifying opportunities, educating customers on Magnitude Instruments’ technology, and managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing. This role requires a proactive “hunter” mentality combined with the ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear value for customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Exceed revenue targets by winning new instrument deals and signing new clients.

  • Prospect and develop new customer relationships within academic, research, and industrial markets.

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with organizations that have not previously used Magnitude Instruments technology.

  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead qualification through proposal development and closing.

  • Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and product consultations. Learn the technology and its potential applications fully.

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities using CRM tools.

  • Attend and represent Magnitude Instruments at industry conferences and trade shows.

  • Conduct instrument demonstrations, installations, and training for customers as needed.

  • Develop long‑term customer relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.

  • Collaborate with internal leadership and technical teams to successfully close complex sales opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and reporting.

  • Regularly check and post meaningful information on social media platforms.

SALES EXPECTATIONS
  • Consistently exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.

  • Generate a significant portion of revenue from new prospect accounts.

  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities at all times.

  • Drive revenue growth through both new customer acquisition and strategic upselling.

  • Be effective selling to both current academic markets as well as future industrial/commercial markets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred in a scientific or technical field (materials science, chemistry, physics, biology, etc.).

  • 3+ years of successful experience in technical or scientific sales preferred but not required.

  • Proven ability to close complex sales opportunities with deal sizes of $100K+.

  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to both scientific and executive audiences.

  • Experience managing the full sales cycle independently.

  • Willingness to travel 25-50% of time for customer visits, conferences, and demonstrations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electromechanical Assembler will be responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing precision electromechanical components used in scientific instrumentation. This role involves working with mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, and optical or electronic components while following engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.

The position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to produce high-quality instruments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble electromechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and components according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

  • Install and connect wiring, cables, connectors, and electronic components within instrument housings and assemblies.

  • Position, align, modify, and fasten parts and components using hand tools and power tools to ensure proper fit and functionality.

  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and assembly instructions to determine materials and assembly procedures.

  • Inspect completed assemblies and components for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications and tolerances.

  • Use measurement tools and test equipment to verify proper alignment, electrical connections, and system functionality.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving minor mechanical or electrical issues discovered during assembly or testing.

  • Maintain accurate assembly documentation and report issues or improvement opportunities to engineering staff.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following company safety procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to efficient manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).

  • 1–3 years of experience in electromechanical assembly, electronics assembly, or related manufacturing roles preferred.

Electromechanical Engineering Technician

In this role you will help build, test, and improve sophisticated research instruments used in leading laboratories worldwide. As part of a small, highly collaborative team, your work will directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and new product development. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electromechanical Engineering Technician supports the build, testing, calibration, and continuous improvement of precision scientific instrumentation. This Engineering Technician role combines hands-on electromechanical assembly with engineering support tasks such as prototyping, documentation, product testing, and manufacturing process improvement. Working closely with engineers, the technician will help translate engineering designs into reliable products by assembling instruments, assisting with CAD documentation, supporting prototyping efforts, conducting quality and functional testing, and identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, product reliability, and build efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble complex electromechanical systems, assemblies, and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

  • Perform electronics assembly including wiring, cable harnessing, connector installation, and precision soldering of electronic components.

  • Support engineering prototyping activities including mechanical modifications, 3D printed components, experimental builds, and early product development work.

  • Read, interpret, and assist in updating mechanical drawings, CAD models, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.

  • Perform functional testing, inspection, and basic calibration of instruments and subassemblies to verify performance and quality.

  • Use measurement tools and electrical test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and diagnostic instruments to verify electrical and mechanical performance.

  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and integration issues and support implementation of engineering change orders or design improvements.

  • Maintain build records, testing results, and technical documentation to support traceability, quality control, and product improvements.

  • Organize components, tools, and build documentation to support efficient and repeatable manufacturing workflows.

  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly methods, reduce build time, improve product reliability, and optimize manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electromechanical technology, engineering technology, or related field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience).

  • 2–5 years of experience in electromechanical assembly, engineering technician roles, or advanced manufacturing environments preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.

  • Experience with electronics soldering, wiring, and use of electrical test equipment such as multimeters.

  • Interest or experience in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) and technical documentation.

  • Experience with prototyping tools such as 3D printers or interest in learning rapid prototyping methods.

  • Familiarity with quality control procedures, documentation practices, and structured manufacturing workflows.
